Hyderabad: Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy warned the State government that the Congress party would wage a protest akin to separate Telangana movement in case the government failed to provide irrigation water.

Participating in a debate on demands on Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Roads & Buildings, Municipal Administration and Power, Komatireddy alleged that the State government neglected the development of villages in the last three years and was only concentrating on Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha schemes.

“It is neglecting the rural areas by not giving funds to the MPTCs and ZPTCs,” he said, alleging that government was diverting funds to others schemes as per its will. Refuting the MLA’s charges, Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the state government was not diverting any funds and was spending cautiously.

Continuing his tirade, Komatireddy alleged that the state government was neglecting women groups and was not releasing funds to them.

Asking the Power Minister to supply power in two spells to the agriculture sector, Komatireddy said he was not obstructing the Yadadri Power Project but suggesting that there was a need to encourage the solar power production as it was happening across the nation.

He said through thermal project, people residing in the 100-kilometre radius would suffer due to pollution and the state exchequer has to bear Rs 26,000 burden if it goes ahead with the project. He said after few years, everyone would use solar power and the state government would be able to sell solar power to other states.

Demanding the government to complete the SLBC Tunnel and Udaya Samudram project, the Nalgonda MLA alleged that irregularities worth Rs 50,000 crore were taking place in the Mission Bhagiratha project.

Suggesting that the state government could have given the contracts of the Mission Bhagiratha to sub-contractors belonging to Telangana instead of four Andhra contractors, he asked the state government to initiate action against contractors for irregularities. He demanded the state government not to give extension to corrupt officials and asked to control the corruption.
