​Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar has urged the representatives of various political parties to hand over constituency-wise details for establishing additional polling stations in the district.

He chaired a meeting with the representatives of various political parties, in Khammam on Monday, to discuss appointment of assistants at booth levels, reorganisation of polling stations and checking of voters’ list.

Addressing them, the Collector said as part of reorganisation of polling stations, a survey would be conducted by visiting to each and every household under Khammam and Palair Assembly constituencies to enroll new voters and to remove non-existing voters from the list.

The survey would be conducted till April 15, and a draft would be published by April 20. Objections would be received from April 20 to May 15, along with publishing of final draft by May 31, informed the Collector.

The Collector told the representatives of the various political parties to hand over the names of persons who would be appointed as booth-level assistants by April 5 along with giving details for establishing additional polling stations by the end of March.

He further added that special programmes would be organised in this regard in Khammam and Palair constituencies from April 1 to August 15. Representative of TRS party Thirumal Rao, T Shivaiah of TDP, Md Tajuiddin of Congress, Thati Venkateshwar Rao of CPI, Y Vikram of CPM and G Narayana of BJP were present in the meeting.
