Hanamkonda: The State government was trying to protect the accused involved in the poaching of two spotted deer at Palimela in Mahadevpur forests of Bhupalpalli district on March 19, alleged TDP senior leader Seetakka.
She said the son of a Minister in the State Cabinet from Hyderabad was involved in the case. A ruling party leader Akbhar Khan, who first made A-1 accused in the case, was later made A-4 accused. Though eight men involved in the hunting only three are arrested, she pointed out.
Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Tuesday, Seetakka noted that hunting in forests used to take place 30 years back. But with the TRS’ governments’ feudal rule now the hunting of wild animals has once again has become rampant.
‘The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, is not in a position to control his ministers. The CM who is often asking public to protect the forests is maintaining silence in the deer hunting case,’ the TDP leader pointed out.
The forest officials were used to harass the tribals living in the forests and villages abutting them even if they salvage dead animals. Even they were not allowing domestic animals into forests by digging up pits around the forests.
But police and forest officials were not able to act against the accused in the hunting case, she noted.
Another senior leader of the party, Revuri Prakash Reddy with reference to CAG report presented in the ongoing assembly session, said the TRS government has been benefitting the contractors and wasting the public money in the execution of irrigation projects.
The irrigation projects like Palamuru and Yellampalli were being delayed as the government has failed to obtain environmental clearances and lack of financial planning. But the government was blaming the opposition parties for the delay. Mallannasagar project even lacked a detailed project report, he stated.
Due to the designing of projects and changes in the plan have been leading to cost escalation which in turn were benefitting the contractors. Similarly, CAG specifically made a reference to non-spending of funds under SC-Sub-plan in 2015-16 in which only 40 per cent funds were spent.
Prakash Reddy urged the public to take note of the above issues and see how the government was functioning.
