Hanamkonda: Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari expressed displeasure over the five districts that were part of erstwhile Warangal district for lagging behind in executing flagship programmes Mission Bhagiratha and double bedroom housing works.

The Deputy CM told the officials to adopt a micro-level planning to execute the works in a time bound banner. He stressed on the need of effective coordination between district collectors, district officials and elected representatives and their active involvement in expediting the works.

He chaired a meeting to review progress of works in Warangal Urban and Rural, Jangaon, Bhupalpalli and Mahabubabad districts. The meeting was held at private function hall in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.

Housing Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal, Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman V Prashanth Reddy and Additional Secretary in the CMO Smita Sabharwal took part in the meeting.

Srihari said the district collectors, who were young in age, should make field-level inspections. The problems, which could be resolved at district level, should be sorted out with the help of local elected representatives.

Referring to Indiramma houses, the Deputy Chief Minister uggested to make payments to beneficiaries based on the report by district collectors.

Housing Minister Indrakaran Reddy said Rs 567 crores available and there was a need of another Rs 500 crores towards the payments.

The government has sanctioned 400 double bedroom houses for each assembly segment and there was a chance to increase their number to 1,000.

Works were under progress in 31 districts and the district collectors should take responsibility of completing the works.

Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman Prashanth Reddy said the deadline to complete the works has been set as March 2018. However, the officials should make efforts to complete the works ahead of the schedule. The contractors executing the works have to follow the time-schedule.

Smitha Sabharwal told the officials that Rural Water Supply and Mission Bhagiratha were not different and the concerned officials have to work in coordination with each other.

Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata informed that 2,689 double bedroom houses were sanctioned in the district. Administrative sanctions were given to 2,289 houses, tenders called for 1,804 houses while construction of 1,384 was commenced.

Construction costs could go up for the houses being built on shikam lands, she added. Warangal Rural Collector Prashanth J Patil said administrative sanctions given to 1,360 houses of the total 1,780 houses sanctioned to the district. Tenders process was completed for 900 houses.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Padma, MPs A Seetaram Naik and P Dayakar, MLAs D Vinay Bhasker, T Rajaiah, B Shanker Naik, M Yadagiri Reddy, DS Redya Naik, Greater Warangal Mayor N Narender, Jangaon Collector A Devasena, Mahabubabad Collector Preethi Meena and Bhupalpalli Collector A Murali were present.
