Jalanidhi Prachara Ratham flagged off

Nizamabad: Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan and MLC VJ Goud flagged off the publicity vehicles in the city on Monday.
These vehicles, called Jalanidhi Prachara Rathams tour various villages in the district to create awareness among the villagers about the proper utilisation of water which has become a scarce commodity in view of the blazing summer and the fast depletion of ground water. They also released wall posters on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bajireddy Govardhan said that several farm ponds and rain water harvesting pits would be created to store water under the prestigious Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha programmes.
DRDA project director Venkateshawarlu said that folk artistes would be divided into four teams and sent to the villages to create awareness on the judicious utilisation of water through cultural programmes in 394 villages.
The MPDOs would supervise the cultural programmes, he added. District Panchayat Officer Krishnamurthy and others were present on the occasion.
