​Nalgonda: The youth and children in the villages in Nalgonda district are getting relief from the scorching heat by swimming in local water bodies or in canals while people in urban areas are relaxing in swimming pools to beat the heat.

In Nalgonda town, State Ministry of Sports constructed a swimming pool on the premises of Indoor stadium in 2007 and handed it over to the District Sports Authority (DSA).

In every summer, interested people would take admission to the swimming pool that runs from April to June and enjoy swimming in both mornings and evenings, which give pleasure, relief and physical exercise.

The swimming pool at Indoor stadium with dimensions of 50 meter length and 10 meters width and designed with five different depths divided into 5 divisions. Three feet depth maintained at the entrance and 4, 5, 6, and 7 feet depths at successive divisions. Only perfect swimmers would be allowed to swim after 5th division, swimming pool coach hanuman explained.

The water in the pool will be purified daily through filters and chlorination. The staff would take care of removing dirt and waste material from the pool regularly to maintain neatness.

DSA employee and in-charge of the Indoor stadium Nazeer said that the swimming pool was reopened on April 2 and will remaine open from 6 to 9 in the morning and again from 4 to 7 in the evening. 300 people can swim at the same time in the pool.

Irrespective of age group, the DSA officials are charging Rs 450 as admission fee valid for two years and Rs 450 per month as maintenance charges of the swimming pool.

According to the officials, 6 am to 7 am was allotted to elders and the remaining two hours in the morning and three hours in the evening are allotted to children.

Informing about the rules and regulations of the swimming pool, Nazeer said children must wear caps, tubes and costumes during swimming and elders must escort them. After taking bath at washrooms only, anybody will be allowed to enter the swimming pool.

If any child or elder feels inconvenience during the swimming practice, they must inform the coach immediately. Maintaining discipline is mandatory and disturbing others in the name of enjoyment will not be tolerated at any cost, he added.

Doctor Jayaprakash Reddy of Nalgonda town speaking to The Hans India informed that swimming is one of the best exercises, which not only strengthen the body muscles but also supplies blood to brain, heart and kidneys.

One hour swimming gives more relief to the body and keeps the brain active for the entire day.
