Bhupalpally: Demanding the State government for remunerative price for chilli and other farm produces, the YSR Congress district president Appam Kishan launched a two-day hunger strike here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it’s been three years since the formation of Telangana, yet the government has not looked into the issues faced by the cultivators. With the government turning a blind eye to agriculture, the hapless farmers are resorting to suicide, he said, demanding the government to lay its focus on agrarian problems.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, BJP district president Vennampalli Papaiah, Rythu Sangham president Mortam Chander Rao and CPM district secretary B Sailu were among others who turned to hunger strike venue expressed their solidarity to Kishan’s protest.
