Khammam: District secretary of CPM Ponnam Venkateshwar Rao strongly condemned the illegal arrests of party leaders by the police and warned the government of severe agitations.

The police officials arrested the CPM party leaders who were staging a dharna in support of chilli growers in front of the Agriculture Market demanding the government to purchase the produce for Rs 15,000 per quintal through Markfed here in Khammam on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, P Venkateshwarlu said chilli growers who brought their produce to the market from different areas were unable to sell due to drastic fall in prices and were suffering a lot.
