Hanamkonda: The Warangal Commissionerate Police solved a well planned theft case within 24 hours and arrested a person. A case of theft of jewellery and cash worth around Rs 62.31 lakh was reported at Subedari police station on Thursday.

Based on the complaint filed by Udit, a medical shop owner in Hanamkonda, the police formed special teams to nab the accused. In this connection, the CCS police on Thursday arrested Babu Vinay Singh Chouhan alias Chintu, a resident of Begumpet in Hyderabad, when the latter was trying to mortgage the gold ornaments in Hanamkonda.

Speaking to the media persons here, the Commissioner of Police, G Sudheer Babu, said that Chouhan is well known to Udit and his parents for some time. He was introduced to the family by a gold merchant Sunil Gupta, who is a close relative of Udit.

Chouhan made Udit’s parents believe that he has supernatural powers to treat their mental disorders. He also told them that he knew a Mataji, who could solve their problems.

On this pretext, he developed proximity to Udit’s family. Against this backdrop, he decamped with gold ornaments weighing 1.943 gms, silver 5.5 kgs and a cash of Rs 1 lakh from the house of Udit.

The Commissioner commended the CCS police for solving the theft case within 24 hours.
