Nalgonda: Directing the officials concerned to create awareness among people regarding the atrocities against the SC/STs in Gram Sabhas, District Collector Gaurav Uppal stated that ex gratia to victims of SC, ST atrocities would be paid as per the SC, ST Atrocities Act GO.

On Thursday, the Collector along with SP Prakash Reddy conducted a district-level SC/ST Atrocity Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting at Collectorate. He advised Revenue Division Officers to conduct similar meetings at division-level and assured that police would pay special attention to sensitive villages to protect the rights of SCs and STs.

SP Prakash Reddy stated that police department was taking all possible steps to reduce the crime rate in Nalgonda and informed that in any case, action would be taken on culprits after investigation in all angles.

SC/ST Atrocities Act district committee members Borra Sudhakar, Rekala Badradri, Praveen Naik, Hafiz Khan, Prabhavathi, Ramaraju, Nampalli Narsimha explained few incidents in the district and urged immediate ex gratia and help from government side.

Creating awareness among people on consequences of attacks and abuses would definitely reduce the crimes on SCs, STs, they opined and advised officials to cross check the complaints before filing cases to avoid misuse of the Act.

DRO Kheemya Naik, DTWO Sarvottam Reddy, DRDO Anjaiah, RDOs Venkatachary, Lingya Naik, Kishan Rao, ICDS PD Pushpa Latha, DSPs Sudhakar, Ramgopal, Ravindra Kumar and officials of line departments participated.
