Organic farm products healthy, says Rana

Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana urged people to use crops grown through using organic farming using natural manures.

Participating in a seeds distribution programme held under the aegis of the Chinni Krishnadevi Seeds Protection Committee at the agricultural market committee office in the city on Friday, she lauded the services rendered by Chinni Krishnadevi Seeds Protection Committee for cultivating 50 types of crops not for making profits but for distributing to the people.

Such type of organic farming was not being used even in ICRISAT at Hyderabad, she added. The Chinni Krishna Committee has the well being of the society in mind, she added.

The District collector said that the people should consume food which has more nutritive content for remaining healthy. Crops grown through organic farming should be used even by the future generations if they wish to remain healthy and strong.

She said that it was not right to use chemicals and fertilizers for ripening of fruits as it would affect the health of the people. Farmers should stop using such methods, she added. She said that two of her classmates died of cancer by consuming such fruits on a regular basis.

Several farmers and officials like Joint Director of Agriculture Mohan Reddy were present.
