Khammam: The Communist Party of India (CPI) accused the TRS government of hoodwinking the minorities in the name of providing 12 per cent reservations to Muslims.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, the CPI State joint secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said although it required a Constitutional amendment to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims, the government was playing vote bank politics.

“Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to hoodwink people by making tall promises one after the other. Perhaps, he is the number one in the world in making promises,” he said, pointing to the TRS’ election promises.

While the need is to distribute 28 lakh acres to Dalits, the government was only able to give away only 1,300 acres, Kunamneni said, referring to the failures of the CM. “The CM, who used to say that Telangana is revenue-surplus, has pushed the State into debt trap with the planning going haywire,” Kunamneni said.

He accused the government of not giving much importance to the agriculture sector. CPI district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao and others attended the meeting.
