Warangal: Demanding that the TRS government immediately announce minimum support price to red chilli, CPM State secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram has warned the State government that they would attack the Market Yards if the government failed to act on their demand.

After visiting the Enumamula Market Yard in Warangal City on Thursday, Thammineni warned the State government that his party activists would destroy the Market Yards across the State if the government failed to announce minimum support price of Rs 13,000 per quintal of red chilli within four days.

He also said the farmers would raid the cold storages if need be and demanded that the State government make public the names, who booked the cold storages.

The CPM leader alleged that traders booked the cold storages in the Market Yards across the State. He questioned the State government, which introduced Rs 1.49 lakh crore budget for the year 2017-18, whether it won’t allocate Rs 250 crore for the sake of farmers.

He pulled up the government for allocating thousands of crores of rupees for development of Vemulawada and Yadadri temples. Questioning whether the government was not in a position to allocate that much money for welfare of farmers, he said the latter were getting Rs 14,000 per quintal red chilli in Jarkhand State.

Earlier, Thammineni went around the Market Yard and spoke to the farmers and enquired about the price they were getting in the market to their produce.
