Karimnagar: The youth of the present generation should follow the ideals of Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule and Dr B R Ambedkar, who fought against social evils and inequality of castes and religions for establishing better society, stated Janardhan, the district in-charge of Democratic Student Union (DSU).

The district DSU committee organised a meeting on the occasion of birth anniversaries of Jyoti Rao Phule and Ambedkar at SRR Degree College here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Janardhan said that both the leaders established educational institutions for dalits realising the importance of education and believing that education is the only weapon that can bring changes in the lives of downtrodden people and also for establishing better and healthy society.

By taking inspiration from Phule, Ambedkar continued his ideology and written Indian Constitution giving equal importance to all castes and religions in the country, he pointed. Some political parties in the country were encouraging communalism and attacking people belonging to lower castes.

They were also responsible for many incidents that took place in recent times like that of Manthani Madhukar murder case and Rajesh murder in Jammikunta, he alleged.

Instead of taking severe actions on those, who were encouraging communal riots and attacking dalits, the State government was neglecting the issue, he criticised.

Janardhan urged the young generation to follow the footsteps of Jyoti Rao Phule and Ambedkar and strive to build a better society fighting against social evils that are still pertaining in the country.
