Nalgonda: BJP district units of Nalgonda and Bhongir on Monday lay siege to Collectorates’ protesting against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s move to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Chinthala Ramachandra Reddy said party was supporting increased reservation to STs and was not against to the development of Muslims, but was opposing the reservation on the basis of religion to Muslims, especially under BC-E group which was against the verdict of Supreme Court.

He questioned the government’s failure to provide reservation to BCs and SCs according to their population and further stated that people from all sections of society would soon revolt TRS vote bank politics.

When saffron leaders and cadre tried to enter the Nalgonda Collectorates, police restricted and arrested them. Later they were shifted to district Police Training Centre. SP Prakash Reddy, DSP Sudhakar monitored the situation to avoid any untoward incident during BJP protest.

In Bhongir, the BJP leaders under the leadership of district president PV Shyam Sunder Rao staged a dharna before the Collectorate and raised slogans against KCR and demanded the rollback of government’s decision.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to District Collector Anita Ramachandran. BJP district president N Narsimha Reddy, leaders P Karuna, O Ramulu, G Manohar Reddy and others participated.
