​Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar directed the officials to take necessary steps for sanctioning sheep units on 75 per cent subsidy to the shepherds.

Speaking in the review meeting held with the officials concerned here at Technical Training and Development Centre in Khammam on Tuesday, the Collector ordered the officials to take necessary steps for sanctioning of sheep units under “Sheep Rearing Programme”, introduced by the state, by preparing the list of beneficiaries.

The Collector ordered the Tahsildars, MPDO’s and officials of Animal Husbandry to form mandal-level committees for identifying the beneficiaries apart from conducting awareness programmes among the shepherds about the benefits of the scheme from April 20 to 30 in all mandals across the district.

Form the societies from village-level from May1 to 10, with the people who belong to shepherd communities and those who crossed 18 years of age and organise Grama Sabha in the villages from May 10 to 20 with the members of the societies and select the beneficiaries through draw system, ordered the Collector.

From May 20 to 30, identify the place required for growing of fodder for the sheep and from June 1 to 10, take necessary steps for providing insurance for the sheep that is sanctioned in a unit (20 sheep in a unit) at a cost of Rs 1.25 lakh with 75 per cent subsidy, informed the Collector.

District Joint Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy, District Officer of Animal Husbandry Narendra Kumar Jain, Rural Development Officer Purnachandra, Tahsildars and MPDO’s were also present along with others.
