Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has earned Rs 8.51 lakhs from one hour labour at different places in the city on Tuesday, as part of the party’s ‘Gulabhi Coolie Dinalu’ programme meant to raise funds for April 27 public meeting. 

Hanamkonda: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has earned Rs 8.51 lakhs from one hour labour at different places in the city on Tuesday, as part of the party’s ‘Gulabhi Coolie Dinalu’ programme meant to raise funds for April 27 public meeting.

The Minister worked at six places getting into the role of a sweeper, chaiwala, sales boy at a shopping mall and jewellery shop. The programme was organised under the aegis of Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker.

Warangal MP P Dayakar, KUDA Chairman M Yadava Reddy, GWMC Mayor N Narender, party leaders G Ravi Kumar, K Vasudeva Reddy and others accompanied the Minister during his labour.

Harish Rao was paid Rs 5 lakh by Sri Laxmi Nursing Home for sweeping the floor, while the employees of the hospital donated Rs 5,116. He earned one lakh rupees each from BSK Jewellers and Kalyana Laxmi Shopping Mall for working as a sales man.

He sold tickets and pop corn at Amrutha Theatre and received one lakh rupees and Mangalya Clothes Store management paid Rs 51,000 for selling clothes at the shop. Similarly several street vendors in the city have also offered donations to the Minister on the day.

“The amount collected today will be spent for decorating the city on April 27,” MLA Vinay Bhasker told The Hans India while Harish Rao said “I am very happy at the public response to the programme. It reminded me of the statehood movement days”.

In Jagtial, as part of ‘Gulabi Coolie Dinalu’ to earn money for the TRS plenary and public meeting, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter and Nizamabad MP Kavitha on Tuesday toiled as a coolie and earned Rs 50,000 by manually transporting a few rice bags.

In the presence of local TRS leaders and workers, Kavitha carried rice bags on her head at a rice mill in Dharmapuri in Jagtial district.

The rice mill owner paid Rs 50,000 to the TRS MP for the work done. Earlier, along with Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, she performed puja at a local Sri Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy temple.
