During the last one week, it has reached to 43o C. People here are an extremely worried lot as to what their fate might be in various parts of the district during the month of May. They start feeling the severity of the heat everyday from 8 AM.
The young and the old are extremely scared to venture out after 10 AM. BY afternoon, streets wear a deserted look with people opting to remain indoors. People are sweating profusely during the day.
The daily wage labourers, especially the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) workers are finding it difficult to carry on with their work under the blazing heat.
There are no tents or shamianas under which they could take rest. Unable to work under the scorching Sun, many of them have fainted due to dehydration and are suffering from sun-strokes. Others have fallen sick.
The heat wave has taken a toll on the business activities of the small traders who are incurring heavy losses. Speaking to The Hans India here on Thursday, Lakshmi, a tea vendor said that people were unable to come out form 10 AM and 6 PM and her business has been badly hit. Hot winds were blowing even during the evening, she lamented.
Narayana, a local resident said that that this was the hottest season in the two districts of Nizamabad and Kamareddy and added that he never experienced anything like this earlier. It looks like a blast furnace, he lamented. Already, four deaths were reported in the district due to the heat wave.
The locals vented their ire against the officials concerned for remaining indifferent to their plight. Doctors have advised the people not to go out.
