​Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar ordered the officials concerned to form committees from village level along with taking necessary steps for protecting children and their rights.

He chaired a meeting with the representatives of ‘Child Protection Society’ and the officials of concerned department at the Collectorate in Khammam on Thursday.

Speaking at the meeting, the Collector told the officials to stop social evils like child marriages and to admit child labourers in schools along with looking after the orphan children in Anand Nilayam.

Regular health checkups must be conducted for the children present in Children Homes along with giving proper medical treatment if they found suffering with any illness.

The representatives of the child care centres should be enlightened about the nutrients to be given to the children for their healthy growth, he ordered.

The Collector asked to dial 1098 to lodge complaint about eve-teasing and sexual harassment incidents if noticed. The officials were told to implement programmes like Operation smile and Muskan successfully in the district.

Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers and representatives of Kishora Balika Sangham along with CDPO officials must interact with the people and must create awareness on child rights and to necessity protect them, he ordered.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sai Krishna, District Child Protection Officer T Vishnu Vandana, ICDS Project Director R Vara Lakshmi, District Education Officer Vijaya Lakshmi, DRDO V Muralidhar Rao, social welfare officer Achyutananda, Officer of Backward Castes Hruthikesh Reddy and NCLP Project Director K Leelavathi were present along with others.
