Kothagudem: The activists of Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a dharna, here in Kothagudem on Monday, seeking pattas to podu land cultivators and clearing of dues of tendu leaf beneficiaries.

They demanded the government stop raids on podu cultivators and stated that tribals of Palvancha, Bhadrachalam, Pinapaka, Aswaraopet and Yellandu have been cultivating the lands for decades.

CPI state assistant secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao questioned the government as to how it can take away the lands from tribals and same time allocate lands to multinational companies.

Stating that Rs 30 crore due to the tendu beneficiaries were pending, Rao demanded the government to deposit the money in the accounts of beneficiaries including bonus at the earliest.
