Kazipet: Leading by example, the TRS leaders have removed the party flags on main thoroughfares put up by the cadre marking the April 27 public meeting here.

GWMC Mayor N Narender and his deputy Khaja Sirajuddin of the ruling TRS party on Tuesday jumped into action and removed the flags, buntings and other publicity material tied onto the electric polls on road medians.

The Mayor and the Deputy Mayor have climbed on to a crane to remove the flags. Later the municipal workers were engaged in removing flags, banners, flexi boards and buntings all over tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet.

Speaking to The Hans India on the occasion, Mayor Narender said the publicity material was put up against the norms of the MCH Act and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation guidelines. He said they removed unauthorised publicity material following the instructions from Ministers K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao.

He reminded that the urban local bodies declared a ban on use of unauthorised flexi boards and other publicity material in public places in the State. Anybody using publicity material should first obtain the permission from local urban body. “The TRS government is people’s government.

Both the ruling party and the common public have to follow the rules. It is what the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao tells us. That is why we have removed the material to set an example before implementing the rules,” the Mayor said.
