Warangal: Warangal, the epicenter for Telangana Movement didn’t slip into oblivion after the hard fought battle of many decades culminated on a happy note. In fact, it has become the care of address for the TRS party’s success. Warangal is also believed to be TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao’s lucky charm as the region never faltered his trust.

Since the party was floated at the Jala Drushyam in Hyderabad in 2001, the public meetings that held in Warangal kept erasing their previous records in terms of people’s attendance.

Especially, the public meetings that held in 2003, 2007 and 2010 manifested that TRS grew strength to strength besides sending message across the country that formation of Telangana is imminent.

Warangal Jaitra Yatra in 2003 was a huge success with the likes of former Prime Minister HD Devegowda and the then Union Minister Ajith Singh attending the meeting.

Warangal gave the TRS two Parliament and six Assembly seats in 2004 general elections. Another public meeting was organised in 2005 after the resignation of TRS MLAs from their posts.

The meeting was attended by the then Union Minister Sharad Pawar. The Telangana Vishwaroopa Garjana meeting in 2007 as part of party’s annual day was also a huge hit.

Then came KCR’s inspiring announcement ‘KCR Chachudo-Telangana vachudo’ at the Students JAC meeting in Kakatiya University in 2009. Following year’s public meeting was also a huge success. It was attended by social activist and Arya Samaj scholar Swami Agnivesh.

Against this jaw-dropping backdrop of huge gatherings that blessed the TRS party, choosing Warangal for Thursday’s public meeting was no surprise. But for the lone Narsampet Assembly seat held by the Congress, the other 11 seats are with the ruling party.

It may be mentioned here that Parkal and Palakurthy MLAs, who won on TDP ticket, joined the TRS later. The TRS also wrested both the Lok Sabha seats in undivided Warangal.

The landslide victories in the bypoll of Warangal Lok Sabha, and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation elections further manifests TRS’ sway over the district. Apart from KCR’s special affection for Warangal, Prakashreddypet venue has always proved lucky for the ruling party as it has a super record of people’s attendance.

This record, the TRS leaders aiming to erase by mobilising huge crowds, said to be 15 lakh. Although the TRS says that the meeting is aimed at heralding their achievements in last three years, it’s the political circles call it a showdown of strength.

Speaking to The Hans India, media coordinator Gudimalla Ravi Kumar said: “The previous public meetings conducted by the party here drew the attention of the country and because of that Telangana happened.

Now, this meeting is to show the country that TRS’ success is not just limited to Telangana Movement but also has the capability to run a welfare government successfully.
