Warangal: Former mayor Errabelli Swarna accused the TRS leaders in the district of collecting donations from small traders and businessmen for the party 16th foundation day and public meeting to be held here on Thursday.
In a statement here on Wednesday, she said the party leaders have to spend their own money to make arrangements for the meeting but it was wrong to forcibly collect donations and tax the public. She held the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, responsible for the party workers alleged misdeeds.
She also found fault with the hurried beautification works being executed in the city in the wake of the TRS meeting. When the temperatures were touching 44 degree Celsius, the KUDA and GWMC have taken up planting of flowering and decorative plants on road medians.
‘Will anyone with right mind do so? Will the plants survive in the severe hot conditions?’ the Congress leader questioned adding that the officials of the civic bodies have been wasting public money for a day’s affair and it was wrong.
On the other hand, the road works and beautification works were being executed without calling for tenders. The works were handed over to ruling party contractors, who were executing poor quality works, Swarna complained.
In addition to that the CM K Chandrashekar Rao should tell the public on the fate of the promises such as constructing rind road, skyways and skyscrapers to accommodate government offices. The progress of double bedroom houses in the city was also going on snails’ pace, she noted.
