Kamareddy: The Kamareddy Area Hospital needs to rise to the occasion to meet the ever-increasing demands of the patients. As many as 700 patients including people from Medak and Sircilla districts visit the hospital daily. It witnesses two to three times more patients when compared to other hospitals in the State.

Child births are also conducted here. The 100-bed hospital lacks sufficient number of staff. Moreover, the rooms here are very congested. In addition to this, the primary health centres are recommending/ referring patients having minor issues to the Area Hospital.

It may be recalled that the Health Minister Lakshma Reddy inaugurated trauma care centre at the hospital a year ago and from then on, there is a scarcity of staff. The hospital also has an Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) centre where there are no specialists.

Duty doctors are trying to meet the needs of the patients. A minimum of 60 staff members are needed by the hospital. Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, the patients said that they had to purchase medicines from other medical shops as there aren’t enough medicines available in the hospital.

Patients will be benefited only when the present 100-bed hospital has been upgraded to a 300-bed hospital. They have appealed to the State government for the release of funds in order develop the hospital and for employing doctors and other staff.
