Mahabubabad: Sudden thunder storms accompanied by gales and hailstones have left the farmers in a state of baffle.

The rains have hit nearly 15 mandals in the district. As a result, large quantities of agriculture produce left to dry at market yards and at agriculture fields were soaked.

Agriculture produces like maize, paddy and chilli severely affected as the sudden down pour that took place during late evening hours didn’t allow the farmers to protect the produce.

Paddy stocked at IKP centres was fully damaged in Gudur, Bayyaram, Dornakal, Mahabubabad, Kuravi and other places.

“We are already troubled with lack of profitable price now this rain has caused damage to the produce, which may germinate if not dried up speedily,” lamented a farmer, called K Veeranna of Bayyaram.
