Khammam: The Telugu Desam Party accused the ruling TRS of gagging the voices of opposition and resorting to the arrests of other party leaders for raising the peoples’ issues which the government had failed to address.

Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at TDP party office here in Khammam on Monday, TDP state general secretary Seethakka alleged that the officials of Khammam Market Yard unscrupulously announced holidays to the market when thousands of chilli farmers were bringing their produce for the last one month. Instead of purchasing the produce and bailing out farmers they announced holidays, she said.

The ruling party leaders just by working for few minutes earned lakhs of rupees for Warangal meeting, but they were unable to address the problems of chilli farmers who have worked for six months braving heat and rains, she added.

She criticised that ruling party leaders were more interested in lakes, sand and government lands from where they would get more and more commissions.

Stating that the government was least bothered to solve the problems of farmers, people and students; she alleged that TRS was lodging false cases against the leaders of Opposition parties who tried to console the farmers.

TDP district president T Brahmaiah, K Venkateshwarlu, Bade Saheb, M Venkateshwarly, B Venkatrao, N Hanmanth Rao, Bikshapathi Rathod, Ch Simhadri, V Koteshwar Rao, Y James and Sampath were also present along with others.
