​Nizamabad: Unable to withstand the shock with the fall in the minimum support price of food grains all of sudden from Rs 6,000 to Rs 3,000 at the purchasing centre in the town here on Wednesday, a farmer suffered a massive heart attack and died while sleeping on the food grains that he brought from his field.

Going into details, the deceased, Dasari Chinna Gangaram, hailing from Yeddandi village of Ibrahmpatnam mandal in Jagtiyal district.

Gangaram who is survived by his wife and two sons used to cultivate turmeric crop on his seven acres of land in his native village Yeddandi.

After facing several hardships in borrowing money, he sowed 30 quintals of turmeric on three acres of land. After nine months, it came to yield and he took the turmeric crop to the IKP purchasing centre to sell it and make some money.

However, much to his horror, he found out that there was a drastic fall in the minimum support price of turmeric. A distressed Gangaram died in his sleep.

His son D Rajender said that his father died due to distress and mental agony.
