Nizamabad: The farmers are facing untold hardships at the IKP food grains purchasing centres owing to the unfavourable conditions prevailing there.

The purchases have fallen down drastically. Citing poor quality of the food grains as a reason, the middlemen and officials concerned at the centres are looting the farmers.

They are purchasing only the A grade quality food grains leaving out the others. In the name of rules and guidelines, they are taking the farmers for a ride.

Adding to the agony of the farmers, they are being cheated even while measuring the quantity of food grains using various instruments.

Money is also not being paid to them for the sales that they made. With purchasing hitting a new low, at some places, food grains are turning rotten as they are getting hoarded.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, one of the farmers said that it would have been better if the purchasing centres were set up 20 days earlier.

He alleged that the officials were using faulty weights and measurements instruments for measuring the quantity of food grains.
