Kothagudem: District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu on Thursday directed the Municipal Commissioners to see the selection list of beneficiaries of widow pension scheme should be transparent and impartial.

He held a meeting with DRDO officials, RDO and Municipal Commissioners at his chamber. Addressing the officials, he said widows and women who were living single should apply in between May 8 and 13.

The Collector said women in villages can submit their application to village secretary, whereas in towns they should submit it to Bill Collectors. He asked the officials concerned to look into the applications in between May 9 and 18.

He further urged that if the officials reject the applications they should list the reasons behind the move. Hanumanthu urged the officials to keep the final list in Panchayat and Municipal offices by May 22.

Those who are married, aged above 18 and living separately are eligible to apply for the scheme. Women who are aged above 30 living single in villages are eligible to apply, while in cities the age should be above 35.

District Rural Development Officer Jagath Kumar Reddy, RDO Ravindranath, Municipal Commissioners Ahmed Safiulla, G Raji Reddy, Ravibabu and Sampath Kumar attended the meeting.
