Khammam: The TRS government will bite the dust, the leaders of Left Parties said, referring to the plight of chilli growers.

The CPM, CPI and CPI-ML New Democracy leaders, who visited agriculture market yard here on Thursday, came down heavily on the TRS government.

CPM State secretariat member P Sudarshan Rao said despite the government tasted the fury of farmers there was no change in the situation at the market yard as the traders continue their sway over the chilli price.

He said though the Jhenda price states Rs 7,100 in the yard, traders are offering anywhere between Rs 3,100 and Rs 4,200 per quintal.

CPI district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao said no government that ignored farming community has survived long and the TRS would also face the wrath of farmers.

“Although the Central government announced Rs 5,000 a quintal as support price, the market yard authorities are yet to implement it,” he said.

New Democracy (Chandranna group) district secretary Kolleti Nageswara Rao demanded the government to ensure the purchase of chilli in accordance with the Jhenda price of that day.

Choudapu Srinivasa Rao of Papakollu village under Julurpadu mandal, who spoke to Left party leaders, said he had left with no option but to commit suicide. He was consoled by the Left party leaders.

Former MLA Gummadi Narsaiah, Ponnam Venkateswara Rao (CPM) and Nunna Nageswara Rao (Rythu Sangham) were among others who visited the market yard.
