Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana urged the officials concerned to take appropriate steps and weed out the bogus applicants in the single woman pension scheme announced by the State government recently.

Addressing the MPDOs, municipal commissioners and Thasildars through a video conference here on Thursday, she warned that action would be taken against the erring officials if they distribute the pension amount to ineligible candidates.

The District Collector said that political interference in disbursal of the pension amount would not be tolerated and the district administration should take precautionary measures to prevent such irregularities.

Collector Rana said that in the rural areas, the VRO, VRA and the panchayat secretary would be designated to ensure the proper disbursal of the pensions. The Tahsildars should conduct an inquiry if there were any irregularities in the disbursals of the pension for single woman. The eligible candidates should be selected in the gram sabha meetings, she added.

The District Collector said that the jogins above the age of 18 years and women who were living separately from their husbands for more than a year were eligible. Those women who were above the age of 30 years in the villages and those above 35 years for women above 35 years were eligible she added.

She said that those who were drawing pension already form the Aasara scheme were ineligible. The annual income of the women living in villages should not cross Rs 1.50 lakh and for those living in towns and cities, it should not cross Rs 2 lakh, she added.

She said that they should submit their aadhar cards or voter ID cards as ID proof. Bodhan Sub-Collector Sikta Patnaik, Assistant Collector Rahul Raj, DRDA project director Ventakateshwarlu and others were present.
