Jagtial: ‘Rythu Chaitanya Yatra’ is aimed to create awareness among the farmers about the profitable methods of cultivation to reap good yields, said District Collector Dr A Sharath.

He along with MLA T Jeevan Reddy inaugurated a publicity vehicle at mandal agricultural office here on Friday to create awareness among the farmers as a part of ‘Mana Telangana-Mana Vyavasayam’ programme. This programme would be held from May 5 to 16 in the name of ‘Rythu Chaitanya Yatra’.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector, Dr A Sharath, said that there must change in the thought process of farmers. Many farmers, instead of growing fine quality of rice that are profitable, are going on with other varieties of rice, which would not give them profits due to lack of proper awareness.

Through Rythu Chaitanya Yatra, farmers will be educated about the modern methods of cultivation and various schemes introduced by the government for the welfare of the farmers along with giving necessary suggestions to grow better variety of crop that suits best for their fields and yields more profits, the Collector explained.

The government will purchase food grains produced by farmers enormously in this Rabi season through indira kranthi patham (IKP) and price support scheme (PSS) and will be transported to millers, he assured.

MLA T Jeevan Reddy said that it is good to create awareness among farmers about the welfare schemes introduced by the government. He observed that the government will support and help farmers from the beginning of distribution of seeds to marketing of agricultural products along with taking total responsibility of the farmers.

District Agricultural Officer Bhagya Lakshmi, Assistant Director of Horticulture Department Jyothi, LDM Venkata Subbaiah and Mandal agricultural officers were also present along with others.
