Khammam: Farmers facing four cases in connection with the ransacking of Khammam market yard incident that held on April 27 have got some relief as the court granted them bail in one case on Monday. They will remain in prison until they get bail in other three cases.

Even as the Congress took lead to ensure bail for the chilli farmers arrested in connection with the ransacking of Khammam market yard case, a host of local advocates representing various political parties have also come forward voluntarily to support the farmers’ cause.

TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who was present at the court proceedings, later speaking to media persons, found fault with the State government for foisting false cases against the innocent chilli farmers.

“The TRS government is treating the farmers like anti-nationals,” he said, referring to the non-bailable cases booked against the farmers.

This, he, terming as a conspiracy to throttle the voices of farmers who have been demanding a remunerative price to their produce, said that more than 100 advocates in Khammam district court have come forward to support the farmers.

Majority of the arrested farmers are dalits, despite this the government foisted false cases, Bhatti said, accusing the government of protecting the interests of the traders and middlemen.

Farmers will teach a fitting lesson to the TRS government, he predicted, advising the ruling party to mend its ways.

Speaking to The Hans India, senior advocate Jammula Sharath Kumar Reddy said: “The market yard incident took place between 10 am and 12 noon, the police registered four cases instead of incorporating all the details in one report.

This shows that there was a conspiracy to exert pressure on farmers, he said. It will take another three to four days to get bail in other cases, Reddy said.
