Buddha Purnima celebrated at Buddhavanam in Nagarjunasagar
The Buddha Purnima, which marks the birth of Buddha, was celebrated on a grand note at Buddhavanam in Nagarjunasagar in the district on Wednesday.

Buddhist monks and Buddhavanam Project Special Officer Mallepalli Laxmaiah took part in the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Laxmaiah said after the formation of Telangana State, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has paid special attention to Buddhavanam project and sanctioned Rs 25 crore for its development.
Stating that all the pending works in Buddhavanam would be completed by the end of November this year, Laxmaiah informed that all measures would be taken to elevate the Buddhavanam internationally.
Meanwhile, monks urged the government to announce public holiday on Buddha Purnima and requested to celebrate the day officially from next year.
