Bellampalli: Sakinala Narayana, the former president of united Andhra Pradesh Home Guards Association tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach on the premises of judicial court here on Tuesday.

According to Narayana, as the president of the Home Guards Association he launched several agitations and movements for the welfare of the home guards. He even once took up indefinite hunger strike demanding solution to their problems.

During those days, police filed several cases against Narayana compelling him to make infinite rounds of the judicial courts.

Narayana alleged that the officials wantonly adjourning the cases without letting them to come to a logical end thus forcing him to make rounds of the courts. Frustrated by this, Narayana tried to end his life by stabbing himself in the stomach with a knife. The police rushed him to the government hospital, who was bleeding.

Later speaking to the media, Narayana alleged that the Telangana government was doing gross injustice to home guards and criticised that senior police officials have been harassing him by registering criminal cases against him. “I wanted to end my life hoping that the problems of home guards would be solved at least after my death,” he said.
