Karimnagar: The government is determined to provide better health services in government hospitals to the common people, said Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy. He inspected the government main hospital here in Karimnagar on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister said that the government started a new programme of exchanging bed sheets everyday in government hospitals from May 8 and ordered the hospital staff to change the bed sheets everyday without forgetting.

Out of the one lakh bed sheets that were ordered, about 60,000 bed sheets were supplied to the government main hospital. Pink and White bed sheets will be used in general wards and light blue and dark blue bed sheets will be used in emergency wards, he explained.

The condition of the government hospitals in the past was horrifying but their condition was improved after the formation of separate Telangana State and they are also well equipped with modern machinery and facilities. Government schemes like KCR kit and Amma Vodi are introduced in the government hospitals, he added.

Notifications will be issued through Telangana State Public Service Commission to fill up as many as 4,000 vacant doctor posts in the hospitals along with establishing 40 Dialysis Centres and 25 ICUs, assured the Minister.

Later the Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy inspected the 150-bedded Mother and Child Health Care Centre, constructed at a cost of Rs 17 crores.

Government Chief Whip Koppula Eshwar, Irrigation Development Corporation Chairman Eda Shankar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, District Medical and Health Officer and Hospital Superintendent Dr Subhashini and others were also present along with others.
