Kothagudem: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), which is reeling under heavy losses, is coming up with strategic moves to make profits.

The state-run corporation has decided to compete with private travels by improving facilities and maintaining timings. In this regard, it has started allotting busses to all depots in the state.

Accordingly, as many as 35 buses have been allotted to the district including 16 buses for Bhadrachalam depot. Manuguru and Kothagudem depots were given 12 and 7 buses respectively.

The higher officials of the corporation are eyeing good benefits in order to cover the loss of Rs 5 crore that incurred during 2016-17.

Of the 16 buses allotted to Bhadrachalam, four are Indra buses, while two Super Luxury, five Express and five Mini buses. The depot already has 114 own and 22 hired buses.

The reason behind allotting five mini buses to the depot is to service them to agency areas such as Cherla, Venkatapuram, Kunavaram and Chimthuru, officials told.

It is learnt that vehicles like auto-rickshaws and others being serviced on these routes by private persons resulting in huge dents to the corporation revenues.

The officials recognised the low mileage of Super Luxury buses to be one of the causes for the loss. Speaking to The Hans India, Regional Manager M Siva Kumar said 100 buses have been allocated to Khammam region.

He said RTC services would be extended to all towns and cities and services from Khammam to all the important places in Andhra Pradesh would be increased.
