70,000 tonnes of grains transported to mills so far in the Jagitial district

​Jagitial: The district administration is focusing on purchasing of grains which are produced enormously this season due to adequate rainfall that is recorded this year in the district said the District Collector A Sharath here on Thursday.

He also said that the government has taken suitable measures for supply of irrigation water to last ayucut which resulted in enormous production of grains. It is estimated that about 3.50 lakhs of metric tonnes of grains are produced this year in the district.

After the formation of new district, the district administration taken several steps and opened as many as 320 grains purchasing centres for the convenience of farmers of the total 330 village panchayats in the district, informed the Collector.

The district Revenue Department, in coordination of other departments, conducted meetings with the in-charges of IKP, PSS centres, transporters and millers. Sufficient steps were taken to purchase grains and send them to the millers, he said.

To solve the problems in purchase of grains, a control room is established along with a call centre with toll free number 18004258187, informed the Collector.

Earlier 2-3 metric tonnes of grains were transported to mills but at present about 10-12 metric tonnes are collected from grain purchasing centres and are transported to mills daily.

About 70, 000 metric tonnes of grains were transported to mills till date, added the District Collector.
