Khammam: Opposing TRS government’s anti-farmer policies, Telugu Desam will hold a protest on Saturday, Sathupally MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah said.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here, he criticised the State government for not coming to the rescue of farmers who were facing hardships after they failed to get even input costs.

“Forget about remunerative price, the farmers are not even getting what they have invested this season,” Sandra said, referring to the steep fall in chilli prices.

Instead of instilling confidence among farmers, the government appears to be insensitive towards farm crisis, he said. Moreover, the government booked non-bailable cases against the farmers, he said, referring to the ransacking of market yard incident.

In a bid to highlight the hardships faced by the farmers, the TDP led by its working president A Revanth Reddy will hold a protest – Rythu Poru - on Saturday, he said, appealing to people to make it a huge success.

Earlier, Sandra along with other leaders inspected the arrangements at Dharna Chowk for Saturday’s Rythu Poru protest. Party district president Tulluri Brahmaiah, senior leaders MB Swarna Kumari and Sumanth were among others present.
