Nalgonda: Several activists of Congress and TRS parties suffered injuries when they indulged in stone pelting here at Miryalaguda on Tuesday. Nine vehicles were also destroyed in the incident, including Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s car.

The police arrested Venkat Reddy later and shifted him to Miryalaguda police station to ease the tense situation.

As scheduled, Marketing Minister T Harish Rao was to lay foundation stone for Batthai Market Yard here on Tuesday. On the occasion, leaders of both the parties organised rallies up to Batthai Market Yard to welcome Harish Rao on a grand note.

But the TRS activists obstructed the Congress rally led by Komatireddy leading to jostling between the TRS and Congress activists.

The TRS activists hurled stones at Congressmen and destroyed vehicles at the spot. As a result, several Congress and TRS activists suffered injuries, including Komatireddy.

Komatireddy soon staged a sit-in on the road in protest against the TRS activists’ attitude and fell unconscious for some time.

Later, the police arrested Komatireddy and shifted him to Miryalaguda police station. Minister Harish Rao came to Nalgonda later along with Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and MLAs and MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy and laid foundation stone to the Batthai Market Yard.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish described Komatireddy’s act as heinous and cheap trick to get publicity. Minister advised Komatireddy to take training from senior congress leader K Jana Reddy on how to behave while participating in development programmes.

Minister Jagadish Reddy stated that Komatireddy brothers were frustrated with internal politics in the Congress and to show their existence, they were resorting to such activities.

Meanwhile, Komatireddy said he had not participated in the official programmes for the last three years.

“But I made the government to sanction Batthai Market Yard in Nalgonda and I came in a rally to participate in the programme. But the TRS activists hurled stones at Congress activists leading to injuries”.

Komatireddy alleged that the police encouraged TRS activists to hurl stones at Congress activists.

It may be recalled that the wide between the TRS and Congress parties has increasing day after day with Komatireddy and TRS MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy leading to friction between both parties’ activists at the opening ceremony of Batthai Market Yard. Both Komatireddy and Gutha were making serious political allegations against each other time and again.
