Khammam: The district reeled under searing heat wave conditions for the second consecutive day here on Tuesday. With the mercury levels soaring past 40 degrees Celsius in many parts of the state, people are forced to remain indoors.

According to Meteorological department, Khammam recorded 46 degrees Celsius, the highest in Telangana state. Right from morning 9, severe heat conditions prevailed in many parts of the district.

In Wyra, the temperature above 45 degrees Celsius was recorded followed by Khanapuram, Thallada and Penuballi mandals recording 44 degrees Celsius.

According to a warning issued by the Met department, heat wave conditions would continue in the districts of Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Mancherial over next few days.

Meanwhile, doctors and health department officials advised people to use hats, sunglasses, scarf and umbrella to protect themselves from direct sun apart from consuming water and fruit juices to keep themselves hydrated.
