Bhongir: Ministers T Harish Rao and G Jagadish Reddy launched the works of canals modernisation in the district on Monday.

Along with MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, Whip G Sunitha, MLA P Shekhar Reddy, MLC K Prabhakar, E Krishna Reddy and others, the Ministers launched modernisation works of Bunadigani canal to cost about Rs 100 crore.

The expansion works of Bunadigani, Pillayipalli, Dharma Reddy canals will irrigate about 60,000 acres in future, Harish Rao said.

He said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on completing the irrigation canals and sanctioned Rs 28 cr for expansion of the canals.

The local people and farmers should cooperate to complete works on a war-footing. The Minister also directed the officials concerned to complete the works to provide waters to Yasangi crops.

Harish also said soon the works of Gandhamalla and Baswapur reservoirs would be taken up which would turn the entire region into a green bed. “The previous Congress and Telugu Desam governments failed to resolve any problems for 60 years and ignored the irrigation works and canals expansion.

TRS after coming to power is keeping every promise it made including that of canals modernisation and irrigation projects and giving boost to agriculture through monetary assistance,” he claimed.

The credit of giving nine-hour power to agriculture will go to the TRS Government, which is also trying to supply power for 24 hours in future. While the previous governments fed poor quality rice at hostels, the TRS Government was supplying fine rice, he said.

Jagadish Reddy accused the previous governments of deceiving the people and the region in every field.

Andhra rulers have ignored the welfare of the Telangana, he alleged, adding that long time dream has been realised with the launch of the modernisation works.
