​Jagtial: The District Collector Dr A Sharath appealed to people to develop financially by utilising the welfare schemes introduced by the State government. He participated in the Grama Sabha held at Ogulapur village of Malyala mandal in the district on Tuesday.

Addressing the people on the occasion, the Collector said the government had introduced several welfare schemes to uplift the downtrodden people. Utilising them for their benefit the people can develop financially, he suggested.

Half of the people of shepherd community, who applied for the government’s sheep rearing scheme, can get benefit this year. The government is going to start pension scheme for single women from June 2.

Women, above 30 years of age and living either independently or with their parents, either married or unmarried, can apply for the ‘single women scheme’. Every beedi worker with provident fund provision would be given pension along with aged, widows and disabled, informed the Collector.

The State government is going to start a new scheme, titled ‘Amma Vodi’ from June 2. Under this scheme the women, who delivers the child in government hospital, will be given Rs13,000 for girl child and Rs12,000 for male child along with KCR Kit worth of Rs 1,200, which consist all essential things required for new born baby, the Collector said.

“Education is most important and every parent must admit their children in government schools. The district stood in top position in SSC results this year with the efforts of teachers, parents and students. The students who study in government schools will excel in competitive examinations. The elderly people who are not educated can attend night school.”

Later the Collector selected the beneficiaries for sheep rearing scheme through lottery system and declared their names in front of all villagers in the Grama Sabha.

Malyala Tahsildar Srihari Reddy, MPDO Srinivasa Murthy, Veterinary Doctor Sai Chaithanya, Ogulapur village Sarpanch G Lakshmi and MPTC P Rajitha were present along with the villagers.
