The powerloom workers, who have been on strike from the last eight days in Rajanna Sircilla district demanding wage hike, on Monday called off the strike with the initiation taken by the District Collector, D Krishna Bhaskar. 

Sircilla: The powerloom workers, who have been on strike from the last eight days in Rajanna Sircilla district demanding wage hike, on Monday called off the strike with the initiation taken by the District Collector, D Krishna Bhaskar.

Both the owners and the powerloom workers came to an understanding and called off the strike, following the Collector’s assurance that the government was taking various steps for strengthening the textile industry in the district.

Polyster Cloth Manufacturer Association president Govind Ravi submitted acceptance letter to the Collector, stating that they were ready to enhance the wages partially and will implement the same from June 1, 2017.

The representatives of workers unions accepted the enhanced wages and called off the strike. They urged the workers to resume work immediately. Collector said that it was a good sign and it would enable the government to strengthen the industry in the district.
