Suryapet/Bhongir: In two separate ghastly road accidents that took place on Wednesday, four people including a bridegroom were killed and many critically hurt.

According to Suryapet police, the bridegroom, Venkata Shesha Sai, of Kukatpally of Hyderabad along with his relatives left for Charla of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Tuesday late night in a DCM van. The van was parked by roadside at Mothey when some women wanted to attend natures call.

A speeding lorry heading towards Khammam hit the DCM from rear killing four persons including the bridegroom, his relatives Damoder, Tappetla Satyanaryana and a four-year-old child Naradasu Akhil. Another 20 persons suffered injuries when the van overturned after it was hit by the lorry.

The injured were shifted to Mothey for treatment. On recommendation of hospital doctors, victims with minor injuries were shifted to Suryapet area hospital and victims with grave injuries were shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment. SP Parimala Hana Nuthan and Collector Surendra Mohan visited the spot and enquired about the incident.

Bodies of the deceased were shifted to Suryapet hospital for post-mortem. Mothey police registered a case and took up the investigation.

In another incident, 20 persons of a marriage party of Balanagar of Hyderabad, heading towards Yadadri, suffered critical injuries when the DCM van in which they were travelling was overturned at Bibinagar.

On information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to Bhongir area hospital for treatment. After first aid, the injured persons whose condition was critical were shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.
