The sudden rains accompanied by gales wreaked havoc in the lives of people of the district on Thursday. Especially, farmers and mango growers incurred huge losses as rains damaged the produce to a great extent.Â

In villages including Asupaka, Vinayakapuram and Naaramvarigudem, many trees and electric poles were uprooted resulting in disruption of power supply. The mangoes which were ready to be harvested in a couple of days were damaged.
Oil-palm trees, banana and maize crops too received the same fate. Chillies which were kept at the fields to get dry were drenched in rain water. Meanwhile, the villagers expressed anguish over the disrupted power and water supply.
They blamed the officials for not visiting the villages after the disaster and for failing to take steps to bring back normalcy.
