Hanamkonda: The CPI State secretariat member, T Srinivasa Rao, has demanded the State government to regularise all the contract and outsourcing employees serving in Telangana Tourism Department.

He hoisted the AITUC flag at Hotel Haritha Kakatiya in Hanamkonda on Tuesday, marking the foundation day of Telangana Tourism Contract Employees Union. Addressing the workers on the occasion, he said there are large numbers of workers serving in the department with meager wages.

During the last elections, the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, promised to regularise the services of all contract employees. He should deliver the promise by regularising the services of the employees and pay their wages equal to that of government employees.

Srinivasa Rao told the workers to be united and fight for their rights. The CPI and AITUC would support their cause and put pressure on the State government until their demands were fulfilled. The union state general secretary Sabbu Rajamouli wanted the government to initiate measures for the welfare of tourism department employees. The employees should fight for their rights while discharging their duties effectively, he suggested.

Hotel Haritha Kakatiya in Hanamkonda, being run by tourism department, has been earning profits because of the collective efforts of the employees. The benefits of separate Telangana should be extended to tourism department employees by enhancing their wages, he added. The union leaders Rajashekar, Ramesh Chary, Pasha, Kishan Naik, and others were present.
