​Gundrampalli: Banda Nikitha of Gundrampalli village of Chityala mandal in Nalgonda has got a rare opportunity to participate in the Yoga programme with none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi on International Yoga Day, to be held on June 21, in New Delhi.

Nikitha, a Class VII student of Vikas School in Gundrampalli, mastered Yoga through regular classses at her school. With the support of school correspondent Venkatesham and Yoga teacher Mallesh, she participated in district-level Yoga competition in Nalgonda and got selected to the district team.

Later, she participated in the state-level competition held at LB Stadium in Hyderabad recently. Of the 500 participants from across the state, 16 children were selected to participate in the Yoga programme with the PM. Nikitha is the only girl from the erstwhile Nalgonda district to take part in the programme.

Speaking to The Hans India, an elated Nikitha said she was looking forward to practice Yoga with the PM on the International Yoga Day. She thanked her school correspondent and her Yoga trainer for providing regular classes their immense help.

The girl further urged the State and Central governments to include Yoga as one of the subjects in curriculum for the welfare of students. Thanking her parents, Saidulu and Laxmi, for encouraging her in all aspects, she informed that getting gold medal in Yoga was her long-cherished aim.
