Mancherial: From the day one of purchasing seeds to sowing, cultivating, harvesting and selling the yield to getting the amount credited into their accounts, the farmers have to cross several hurdles.

As if these are not enough, the farmers will face several other problems also. Like the sudden climatic change on Sunday created storms in their hearts in Mancherial.

There was rain combined with gales at some parts of the district. The sky appeared as if heavy downpour would occur making the farmers to awake all night to protect their produce that was kept in the premises of purchase centres.

Farmers are worried over the delay in weighing and transporting the weighed bags from the purchase centres. The officials, who promised to provide tarpaulins, couldn’t supply them. Farmers had to run from pillar to post to get their own tarpaulins to cover the heaped paddy.

They will heave a sigh of relief only when officials send lorries to purchase centres and help farmers by transporting the paddy to rice mills.

There are several other factors that add to the hardships of the farmers. The Government Order of crediting the amount within 48 hours of purchase made from farmers was not being implemented properly. They had to wait at least one month to get their money.

Without the yield and money, the farmers are in dilemma how to make the ends meet. They are worried about the interest, on the loans they have taken that has been piling up and about the preparations for Kharif season. The farmers appealed to the officials to come to their rescue. The efforts put by farmers would go waste if the officials fail to take necessary steps in time.
