Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) Mayor N Narender has on Tuesday launched a new Android-based grievance-cum-online citizen services centre app. Speaking after launching the app at the corporation head office in Warangal, he said with the app the citizens now could get services in transparent manner.

Citizens could directly register their complaints using this app and get them solved and its works like a round the clock grievance cell. The app helps to improve accountability among the officials and staff of the corporation. About 29 services were being offered online through the app and the public need not visit the corporation offices to get their works done, he noted.

Citizens could know and pay their property tax, water bills apply for building permissions, birth and death certificates, trade license and others besides registering their complaints. The officials have to address the complaints within a stipulated time and otherwise would face disciplinary action.

The grievances would be processed by GWMC monitoring cell. Once a complaint was made, the official concerned would be notified and on accepting the grievance the user of gets a message including the contact number of the local official who was assigned the task, mayor Narender explained.

App was developed under the guidance of Commissioner and Director for Municipal Administration (CDMA). For the citizens of GWMC, the application has been made available with the name ‘GWMC Citizen Buddy’ in Google play store.

Information regarding the GWMC, the population, geographic area, the officials of 58 divisions under the GWMC including public representatives, a staff directory and others have been incorporate in the app, he informed.

Narender appealed the citizens to make use of the app and help the GWMC making Warangal one of the best cities in the nation. Soon a campaign would be taken up to create awareness among the public regarding the app, he added.

It might be noted that earlier, the GWMC has launched ‘Swachhata App’ as part of Swachhata ranking survey, but was limited to sanitary grievances alone. The new app allows the citizens to complain about all the issues related to civic body services. Standing committee members Vaddiraju Ganesh, B Damodar Yadav and M Devender, councillors V Bikshapathi, K Venugopal, B Swamry, P Swarnalatha and others were present at the launch of the app.
